These are thin-walled, six-sided beads with large holes that resemble the modern Japanese "Delica" beads. These beads are smaller (and a lot less expensive) and look marvellous when they are made up, resembling small reflective, facetted tiles. They are most suitable for all kinds of loom and off-loom weaving techniques (like loomwork, Peyote or Brick stitch). They are also wonderful for the cabochon technique described in Gildebrief 2/2008, adding texture and interest to the artwork.
For loom work, use a long beading needle # 12, Gudebrod thread for the warp and Nymo 0 for the wefting thread. For other tequniques with more passes through the bead, use beading needle # 13 and Nymo size 00.
