Beautiful voile with ecru ground and woven lavender checks, perfect for fashion doll garments from about 1845 to 1868. The voluminous skirts of that fashion era displayed patterned fabrics perfectly (printed, woven or trimmed with intricate braids) and checks and stripes on the straight grain and the bias were combined skilfully within a garment. Different printed designs were also combined in one garment: sometimes strips of one printed fabric were sewn onto another printed or plain fabric with wonderful results!
