Open-weave, old-fashioned Tarlatan, much used in the 19th century for petticoats (1830s), bustles, even inexpensive evening dresses were made from Tarlatan. Similar to Crinoline but a more even, open weave, 100 cotton, sized. Also used for bonnets (must be wired), wig caps and interfacing or interlining. For shaped wig caps or bonnets: dampen the cloth, shape over a plastic-covered shape, secure with a rubber band or pantyhose, let dry, mark and remove from the shape.
