Atelier Gildebrief is a new section where you will find individual, unusual and rare items of embroidered goods that you may not see anywhere else. All are made in my Atelier Gildebrief, each is made individually and finished with great precision for excellent quality. The latest entry is the range of superb vintage and antique-style embroidered motifs from authentic embroideries digitized for modern machines from old-style manually punched embroideries. At the Atelier Gildebrief, each is embroidered on a professional machine using super-fine, top quality cotton thread (size # 80, no longer made)) to produce a fine, delicate and butter-soft lace suitable for dolls as well as adults. For dolls, they are superb for bretelles, plastrons, belts, skirt, capes, hat decorations, bags and much more These will lift the outfit from the ordinary to the sublime in no time at all and with minimum effort.
They are, essentially, Guipure laces without the stiffness and density associated with those laces. Guipure laces were immensely popular from the 1860s on. The embroidery is slow and labor intensive and prices are always linked to the number of stitches, the materials and the after-care of the laces.
All laces are offered in the # 80 cotton thread, antique ecru, matching many antique embroideries perfectly, plus in white cotton thread size # 60, both made by the same traditional German thread company (founded in the 1870s). The size # 60 thread is a fraction heavier than the # 80, but not much. The white lace is also butter-soft. Some embroideries would be perfect for decorating a “human” wedding dress! Many laces are available in pairs of a right and a left motif, which you need for many applications.
Enjoy!
